S2 Students Service Learning Trip

Date: 14/11/2024

Giving back is a great way to know your community and it offers opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, group responsibility, and a sense of culture and community.

Nam Shan Estate is located in Sham Shui Po district, between Shek Kip Mei and Yau Yat Tsuen. Students were teamed up to find the clues and checkpoints hidden in the estate and do some challenging tasks. This allows students to have an in-depth understanding of the characteristics and life of the community, get to know the residents’ daily lives, and appreciate the uniqueness of the community.

Amid laughter and joy, students danced and sang at an elderly home, the room echoed with well wishes and blessings for a long and healthy life ahead. In the hoping to instill empathy in our students, we hope that they will learn to respect the elders and treat everyone with kindness.

Students also visited the Society of the Blind. Through a range of activities including tours of the HKSB service units, blind experience activities and sharing sessions, students gained a deeper understanding of the needs and difficulties faced by the visually impaired. It also fosters inclusion, educating and celebrate their uniqueness and create better connections between peers.

We provided a reflecting and reporting session for students so as to solidify connection between experienced learning and developing their own thoughts from experiences. This service learning trip not only provide students with valuable opportunities to engage in meaningful activities but also make a positive impact on communities in need.
