Secondary 2 Life-Wide Learning Programme: Stepping into the Community, Fostering Care, and Building an Inclusive Future

Date: 11/05/2026

Our Secondary 2 students recently participated in an enriching Life-Wide Learning Programme centered around the theme "Building an Inclusive Community for the Elderly." Through a well-rounded combination of local field trips, elderly inclusion activities, and a Gerontech STEAMaker Competition, students explored community needs from diverse perspectives and reflected deeply on the vital connection between senior well-being and a truly inclusive society.

During their field trip to Central and Sheung Wan, students walked through historic neighborhoods to examine the intersection of urban development, local history, and culture. Alongside this cultural exploration, interactive elderly inclusion activities allowed them to connect firsthand with senior citizens, helping them understand the practical needs of the elderly with genuine empathy while fostering a strong sense of care and respect.

Furthermore, students channeled their innovation into the Gerontech STEAMaker Competition, where they applied creative thinking and technological skills to design practical solutions aimed at improving the quality of life for seniors. This meaningful challenge not only broadened their horizons but also significantly enhanced their social responsibility, problem-solving capabilities, and lifelong spirit of community care.
